The year 2025 marks yet another much-awaited gathering of librarians across the country. The Isabela State University โ€“ Roxas Campus Library proudly participated in the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) National Congress 2025 and General Assembly, held on November 23โ€“26, 2025 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
Despite the stormy weather, the event pushed through with the utmost priority on participantsโ€™ safetyโ€”proof that librarians truly embody resilience and dedication. This yearโ€™s theme, B.R.I.D.G.E.S. (Borderless. Research-Based. Innovative. Developmental. Global. Equitable. Sustainable), resonated strongly throughout the congress and was brought to life by the impressive turnout of 910 librarians nationwide. Among them was our very own Campus Chief Librarian, Ms. Ivy Camille M. Gan, who also served as NOMELEC Chair and 3rd Member of the House of Delegates.
Beyond the inspiring fellowship with fellowmen in the profession, Ms. Gan attended several carefully selected plenary sessions aligned with the needs and ongoing directions of the ISU Roxas Library. These sessions were rich with insights, innovations, and forward-looking strategiesโ€”each offering valuable takeaways to strengthen our libraryโ€™s services, programs, and vision.
Another highlight of the tradition was the benchmarking activity of Region 2 librariansโ€”particularly those from the ISU systemโ€”at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University Library. This visit showcased the campusโ€™ innovative and creative approaches to library service. Their unique practices and unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service to their clients left the team inspired and energized to bring fresh ideas back home.
The entire PLAI 2025 experience was not just an eventโ€”it was an opportunity for learning, growth, collaboration, and renewed passion for librarianship. With new knowledge and strengthened connections, the ISU Roxas Library continues to stride confidently forward, ready to build more BRIDGES toward a smarter, more inclusive, and more innovative future.
